PROPERTIES
Aminoforte® F is a sterile aqueous injectable solution of high concentration that constitutes an adequate source of amino acids, electrolytes, vitamins and sugars that restores the vital balance necessary to recover animals in emergency situations.
Aminoforte® F contains ten essential amino acids described for animal nutrition, in addition to glutamic acid and cysteine.
In ruminants, rumen microorganisms are able to synthesize such molecules, although a supply of such substances is necessary to achieve maximum growth rates or milk production.
B vitamins and nicotinamide are water-soluble vitamins that are not retained in the body in appreciable amounts, making an exogenous supply necessary, especially in special physiological or pathological situations. These vitamins are involved in countless metabolic functions, participate in the proper functioning of the nervous system, and are essential for red blood cell production and DNA synthesis. As with essential amino acids, microorganisms present in the rumen are capable of synthesizing these vitamins in adequate quantities for the host's normal metabolism and for an adequate concentration in milk; despite this, under certain conditions, deficiencies in thiamine and cyanocobalamin may occur.
The electrolytes present in Aminoforte® F provide the body with the elements that are most easily lost during periods of dehydration. Glucose is the basic and rapidly utilized energy source, so its parenteral administration, in solution form, constitutes a fundamental energy supply in deficiency and/or pathological states where oral intake is diminished or prevented.
INDICATIONS
As an immediate source of amino acids, dextrose, B vitamins, and electrolytes for the treatment of acute convalescence in debilitated animals or those subjected to intense exertion, stress, shock, dehydration, chronic diseases, parasitosis, and as supportive therapy in cases of severe dehydration due to vomiting or diarrhea where it helps to replenish electrolyte and protein loss (in this case, oral or parenteral fluid therapy is also necessary).
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
- It is recommended to administer 1 mL per 5 kg of live weight, between 1 and 3 times a day, depending on the severity of the case and veterinary discretion.
Administration can be done intravenously, intramuscularly, subcutaneously or intraperitoneally in cattle, camelids, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats; in horses it is recommended to use only the intravenous route.
The administration of Aminoforte® F does not exclude specific treatment for the animal's pathological condition.
TARGET SPECIES: Cattle (beef and dairy), Sheep, Swine, Horses, Dogs and Cats.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD: No withdrawal period.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- No contraindications have been described during pregnancy and lactation.
- Do not administer to animals with a known history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- Signs of pain and vomiting may appear if administered at an excessively rapid infusion rate. In such a case, administration should be suspended until the signs disappear, and then the infusion can be restarted more slowly.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
- Hypersensitivity reactions may occur very infrequently; if they appear, discontinue treatment.
- Local reaction (swelling) may occur at the injection site in animals up to one week after administration.
- Shock may occur during intravenous administration. In this case, medication should be suspended and appropriate measures taken.
SPECIFIC PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON ADMINISTERING THE MEDICINE TO ANIMALS
- Do not handle this product if you know you are sensitive or have been advised not to work with such preparations.
- Handle this product with great care to avoid exposure, taking all recommended precautions.
- If symptoms appear after exposure, such as a skin rash, you should seek medical advice and show this warning to the doctor. Swelling of the face, lips or eyes or difficulty breathing are more serious symptoms and require urgent medical attention.
INTERACTIONS: None described.
OVERDOSAGE
Given the safety of its components, overdose is unlikely, although in such a case it is recommended to suspend administration and initiate appropriate symptomatic treatment.
WARNINGS
- Administration should be performed at a slow infusion rate and following normal aseptic precautions for parenteral solution administration.
- In case of subcutaneous administration, inject a maximum of 25 ml per injection site.
- For prolonged treatments, frequent monitoring of the fluid and electrolyte balance is recommended.
