Formula

Each ml contains:

Calcium gluconate: 450 mg, Calcium glucoheptonate: 45 mg, Calcium saccharate: 10 mg, Boric acid: 87.5 mg, Butafosfan: 8 mg, Excipient q.s.p: 1 ml.

Product description:

The three calcium salts contained in Calfon fuerte have the necessary qualities to treat conditions caused by a lack of calcium. The addition of organic phosphorus to its formula has a stimulating action on the metabolism and improves calcium utilization. It has excellent tissue tolerance at the application site.

Route of administration:

Calfon fuerte can be injected subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously. In pigs, it is recommended to use Calfon fuerte subcutaneously.

Dosage:

• Horses and cattle weighing 500 kg b.w.: 80 to 100 ml
• Pigs, sheep, goats, foals, calves weighing 50 to 100 kg b.w.: 20 to 30 ml
• Piglets, dogs, lambs, and kids: 2 to 3 ml

The dose is increased or decreased according to the weight of the animals.

Indications

Calfon fuerte is indicated for:

•Hypocalcemic paresis before, during, and after parturition or throughout lactation (milk fever).

•Paresis of various origins (e.g., deficiency diseases in cattle, sheep, and goats, particularly in animals in advanced stages of pregnancy).

•Allergies, toxicosis, neurosis (e.g., puerperal hemoglobulinuria, hypocalcemia in sows and bitches, petechial fever, urticaria, anaphylaxis, exanthema, pododermatitis, hematuria).

•Conditions caused by general metabolic disorders (e.g., repeat breeder cows, weak uterine contractions in the initial phase and during fetal expulsion).

•Calcium metabolism disorders (e.g., rickets, osteomalacia, weakness in newborns, acetonuria).

•Other indications, for example, as an aid against bronchitis accompanied by heavy secretions. Myoglobinuria in horses (lumbago).

•Liver protection in carbon tetrachloride poisoning (after fascioliasis treatment), lead and fluorine poisoning, poisoning by drugs, oxalic acid, tartar emetic, chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides, and other chemicals (DDT, lindane, etc.).

Administer Calfon fuerte intravenously slowly, as rapid administration can cause cardiac arrest.

Species: cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, and cats.

Before use, warm the product to body temperature.

Metabolic disturbances due to mineral deficiency in animals are generally caused by a mineral-poor diet, or perhaps, despite their presence, by chemical forms that are difficult to assimilate or with unfavorable ratios between them. Therefore, apart from emergency therapy, it is also necessary to remedy the causes of the disease, i.e., improve the diet and supplement the existing diet with mineral supplements rich in phosphorus and vitamins A, D, and E.

For this purpose, Bayer recommends the use of Catosal with vitamin B12, Vigantol ADE forte, and Calform in cows as preventive measures, as well as the administration of Superbayphos and Magnaphoscal as a source of minerals.
