Zilmax
Description:
Non-steroidal performance enhancer that increases weight gain and improves feed conversion in feedlot cattle. Increases the yield grade and carcass quality in cattle destined for meat production.
FORMULA:
Each kg contains:
Zilpaterol Hydrochloride 48 g
Vegetable excipient, q.s. 1 kg
PHARMACEUTICAL FORM:
Granules
PHARMACODYNAMIC PROPERTIES:
Zilpaterol HCl is a β2-adrenergic agonist. β2-adrenergic agonists act on the fat cells of animals by increasing lipolysis (lipid breakdown) and reducing lipogenesis (fat synthesis), and on muscle tissues by stimulating protein synthesis, decreasing protein breakdown, and increasing insulin binding to muscle insulin receptors to increase glycogenolysis. The overall effect is the partitioning of energy that an animal consumes towards muscle tissue deposition and reduced fat deposition.
PHARMACOKINETIC PROPERTIES:
Orally administered zilpaterol HCl is rapidly absorbed, reaching peak plasma levels (Cmax) in about 12 hours, and has a disappearance half-life (t½) of approximately 12 hours. Liver tissue contains the highest residue levels, which are mainly unchanged zilpaterol and a metabolite, diisopropyl-zilpaterol, which is approximately 20% of the residue. This metabolite has only 10% of zilpaterol's activity. Residue levels in muscle tissue are only about 10% of the values in liver tissue, and residues in adipose tissue are essentially not found.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Oral administration. Mix Zilmax® with the other micronutrients in the feed at a dose of 0.15 mg/kg body weight per day (equivalent to 125 g of Zilmax®/ton of feed)
